Hi and welcome to Commonwealth Cricket Club!

We have two teams that play in the Massachusetts State Cricket League. The First XI in the 1st Division and the 2nd XI in the second division. Each team plays approximately 15 league matches per year. We also have a social XI which tours and hosts friendly matches. For social matches, preference is given to those who would rather not play competitive cricket, but really any member of the club can play.

Since we have three teams, there's room for everyone regardless of your level of play - enthusiasm is more important than skill! Nets are held at our ground in Bedford two days a week, generally Tuesday and Friday, from about 5:00 p.m until dark (any changes to the nets schedule will be posted on the website and will be notified via email). We have team kits both for nets and matches, but most players have their own kits, especially bats, because it is best to use what one likes (weight, balance, etc.). If you plan on playing fairly regularly then we recommend you invest in your own kit.

So browse the site to find out a bit about the club and, if you think you would like to come play for us, simply show up at nets (usually starts in April, when the weather gets better and the ground is dry) so you can meet other members and get a feel for the club. Send an email to the secretary of the club (see the officers page for email addresses) and you will be added to our mailing list. Members are contacted primarily by email for all club activities. Keep an eye on the website and it'll be updated with information about nets and any other activities. Once nets has started, come on out and meet the captains and the rest of the players.

Please note that you are required to wear proper cricket whites for all games. We highly recommend wearing proper cricket shoes (no metal spikes are allowed as we play on artificial wickets; rubber stubbies (no baseball or soccer cleats) are best) to avoid any injuries playing with ordinary sneakers. The club provides helmets but it might be best to buy your own and get used to playing with it. The off-season is a good time to get equipment together. You may want to check out Stuart Sports or Bedessee to buy equipment locally.
