2008 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Meeting Minutes
Members Present:
Rajiv Srinath, Ian Shelley, Anmol Wassan, Ghazaffer Baig, Mark Wright, Kiran Nataraj
Proceedings:
o The President informed the members that it was a fun season and that both teams did well.
o The President laid out some of the plans/concerns for the year, including:
o Status of the field is a concern
o Silver Jubilee celebration plans
o Concerns about the money spent on the equipment.
o The President was worried about volunteerism and membership.
o Partnership with the American Cancer Society.
o The President confirmed that the club would have at least 2 teams this season for the MSCL.
o The Treasurer presented a detailed report of the previous years activities and highlighted the following points:
o Profit of approximately $2,000 for the year
o Income from membership dues $3,000
o Approximately $1,000 bonus from Lagaan for use of field for practices
o There are 7 advanced membership for 2009
o Confirmed that there were 30 paid members last year and 1 unpaid members
o A general discussion of the financial health of the club ensued with general consensus that money would need to be spent on cricket equipment and Silver Jubilee.
o The financial report was accepted by the members
o New Calendar was established as a guideline for club activities
o Annual dinner was held in 2008 and was well attended.
o No grievances were reported this year so everything was good.
o Mark Wright informed everyone that the selection committee that there were timing issues last year and it will be good to have that sorted out this year.
o Two competitive team were well selected
o Team A (provided by Mark Wright):
o Did it again! Made it to the final and lost!! Needed someone to come through and we fell short
o Good group of 14-15 guys that contribute
o Fazal did a great job handling the team and has the support of the team
o Should continue to look at new additions.
o Will probably compete at the same level last year.
o Team B (provided by Team B Captain, Rajiv Srinath):
o Rajiv Srinath informed the members that it was a good effort overall with:
§ Resigned from captaincy
§ Lauded Giles and Vivek for their approach in getting us to the playoffs
§ Could have played better.
§ On the whole an OK season. Made it to the playoffs. Pointed out 3 playoff losses in the last 4 years
§ Lauded Donny as someone to look at for the future.
§ Pointed out that altercations by a particular individual was an issue.
